All workshops will be held from 1:15 - 3:15pm at the Annex (15 N. Broadway, second floor).
$20 per dancer per workshop.

Matthew Westerby Company will lead a contemporary partnering workshop where dancers will experiment with weight shifting and sharing, building trust and creating contact with one another through an improvisational approach to movement.

Tap technique, choreography, and elements of rhythm and Broadway tap will be explored in a fun and positive environment.
Biography
Ms. Scheer has performed, directed and choreographed throughout the country. Her principal roles include Anita (West Side Story); Velma (Chicago); Patsy (Always, Patsy Cline); Katherine (Taming of the Shrew) and Harper (Angels in America: Perestroika) . Her choreography in everything from dinner theatre revues to modern dance pieces to musical theatre has been seen in regional theatres across the US. She has directed or choreographed, among many others, Damn Yankees, Carousel, Bye Bye Birdie, and The Secret Garden. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Theatre and has been on the faculty at several universities.
Ms. Scheer has performed, directed and choreographed in regional theatres throughout the country. Her principal roles include those in major musicals (West Side Story), contemporary American drama (Angels in America: Perestroika), and Shakespeare (The Taming of the Shrew) as well as many others. Her choreography includes works in modern dance as well as musical theatre and has been seen in regional and stock theatres across the United States. She has directed or choreographed, among many others, Oklahoma, Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof, and A Little Night Music. She holds a BA in Theatre with a Dance Emphasis from Santa Clara University and an MA in Theatre from San Jose State University, and also studied at Stanford University in the Graduate School of Education with additional work in the Harvard Graduate School of Education Project Zero Program. She has been on the theatre and dance faculties of Long Island University CW Post and the State University of New York at New Paltz. In Santa Fe, she was the Director of the School for Performing Arts for National Dance Institute New Mexico for four years, established the dance program at Santa Fe High School and was a member and Vice Chair of the City of Santa Fe Arts Commission.

CONTEMPORARY BALLET CHOREOGRAPHY with CHRISTOPHER HOWARD

Join Chris in a unique masterclass in which dancers will work to build an extensive choreographic phrase to be performed at the RDA Spring Open House. Dancers will warm up, and then spend the bulk of the workshop learning & fine-tuning phrase work.
Biography
Most recently Christopher completed his fourth US tour with the Broadway show “Anastasia” as Dance Captain and male swing. Previously spending two years on the road with the 1st National Tour of “An American In Paris” as Resident Dance Supervisor, Dance Captain, and Fight Captain, Christopher is now a freelance artist, teacher, and group fitness instructor. He has also traveled with “The Phantom of the Opera” (Assistant Dance Captain, Swing), “Billy Elliot” (Older Billy), and “A Chorus Line” (Larry) as well as dancing for Dayton Ballet and performing with Celebrity Cruise Lines. Regionally, Christopher has worked at Capital Repertory Theatre in “The Full Monty” (Keno, Dance Captain) and Paper Mill Playhouse in their recent production of “Cinderella” (Dance Captain). He has also had extensive teaching experience at numerous accredited dance schools, universities, and companies nationwide. He has taught six years for Broadway Connection, was twice invited to be an instructor for Playhouse Square’s Broadway Summer Camp in Cleveland, Ohio, and has been a guest artist for USC’s Kaufman School of Dance, Wright State University, the Dayton Ballet Academy, University at Buffalo, and the Greater Lansing Ballet Company, among many others. Christopher’s training includes a BFA in Music Theatre and a BA in Dance from SUNY Buffalo and he was a scholarship student to the world-renowned Joffrey Ballet School in New York City.

This workshop will allow dancers to explore moving sideways, upside down, and holding weight in their hands . We will incorporate handstands, shoulder stands, and ways of rolling in and out of the floor.
Biography
Jill Moshman is a choreographer, performer, and interdisciplinary artist. She holds a BA from Middlebury College in Vermont, USA and an MA from Bath Spa University in Bath, UK. Her work is primarily grounded in movement, while seeking to explore the intersections between dance, film, text, and visual media, and the diverse ways in which movement can be captured for an audience. www.jillmoshman.com
