TUMBLING FOR DANCERS with DEVYN CICCIO-RAUF

About This Workshop:
Tumbling for Dancers is a learning experience for new and experienced tumblers alike! We will focus first on building a strong technical foundation for basic acrobatic skills such as handstands and cartwheels, and then we will dive into variations of those skills to challenge students of all ability-levels. Our ultimate goal is to build technique and confidence in dancers!
Meet The Artist:
Devyn is an NYC-based dancer, circus artist, and acrobatics instructor. Devyn has over a decade of teaching experience in tumbling, cheerleading, and genres of dance such as jazz, lyrical, and hip hop. As of 2025, Devyn is a teacher and choreographer for the competition team at Armonk Center for Dance, and she is also the advanced-level tumbling instructor at Hudson Dance & Tumble Center. In addition to this, Devyn offers workshops and intensives in and around New York.

Join physical therapists and dance injury specialists Dr. Elizabeth Bynum and Michal Kirschte (MScPT) at this interactive workshop to discuss common dance injuries, injury prevention tips, and treatment methods. Incorporating these preventive strategies and knowing how to manage injuries can help dancers maintain longevity and performance while minimizing the risk of injury. A Q&A session will also be offered. Both parents and dancers are welcome!

Tap technique, choreography, and elements of rhythm and Broadway tap will be explored in a fun and positive environment.
Meet The Artist:
Ms. Scheer has performed, directed and choreographed throughout the country. Her principal roles include Anita (West Side Story); Velma (Chicago); Patsy (Always, Patsy Cline); Katherine (Taming of the Shrew) and Harper (Angels in America: Perestroika) . Her choreography in everything from dinner theatre revues to modern dance pieces to musical theatre has been seen in regional theatres across the US. She has directed or choreographed, among many others, Damn Yankees, Carousel, Bye Bye Birdie, and The Secret Garden. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Theatre and has been on the faculty at several universities.
Ms. Scheer has performed, directed and choreographed in regional theatres throughout the country. Her principal roles include those in major musicals (West Side Story), contemporary American drama (Angels in America: Perestroika), and Shakespeare (The Taming of the Shrew) as well as many others. Her choreography includes works in modern dance as well as musical theatre and has been seen in regional and stock theatres across the United States. She has directed or choreographed, among many others, Oklahoma, Chicago, Fiddler on the Roof, and A Little Night Music. She holds a BA in Theatre with a Dance Emphasis from Santa Clara University and an MA in Theatre from San Jose State University, and also studied at Stanford University in the Graduate School of Education with additional work in the Harvard Graduate School of Education Project Zero Program. She has been on the theatre and dance faculties of Long Island University CW Post and the State University of New York at New Paltz. In Santa Fe, she was the Director of the School for Performing Arts for National Dance Institute New Mexico for four years, established the dance program at Santa Fe High School and was a member and Vice Chair of the City of Santa Fe Arts Commission

About This Workshop:
Join Robin in a unique masterclass in which dancers work to build a choreographic phrase to be performed at the RDA Spring Open House. Dancers will warm up, and then spend the bulk of the workshop learning & fine-tuning phrase work.
Meet The Artist:
With a professional performing career spanning two decades, Robin Cantrell has worked with numerous dance companies including City Ballet of San Diego, Rioult, Rebecca Kelly Ballet, and, most notably, as a member of Battery Dance for 17 years. With Battery, Robin has performed, taught, and presented her own choreography in over 65 countries around the world. Her original works for the company have been shown at New York Live Arts, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and the Battery Dance Festival in NYC. She is the subject of the award-winning documentary Moving Stories, about the company’s cultural diplomacy work. She serves as an adjunct professor at both Vassar College and PACE University.
Robin currently dances for Gabrielle Lamb’s PigeonWing Dance and is the Artistic Director of Indelible Dance: a Brooklyn-based dance company that creates otherworldly dance films and presents multimedia immersive dance events.
Her most recent dance films have garnered numerous awards and accolades, including Best Screendance of the Year at the 2022 Independent Shorts Awards.
Robin is also the co-founder of Constant John Productions. The company creates dynamic films that tell their stories entirely through dance and music. She serves as the Director of Dance at the Williamsburg Art and Historical Society and curates a quarterly dance series called 12x12 in Brooklyn, NY.
Robin Cantrell is a native of St. Paul Minnesota and received her BFA in ballet performance at the University of Utah as a Willem F. Christensen scholarship recipient. She loves her pet bird very much and continues to expand her mindfulness practice.
